Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig Sept. 21 in 1983) is an acclaimed American actress. Most notably, she appeared as Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV series as well as Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Following the divorce of her parents her parents separated, she moved to Worthington Ohio in order to settle with her family in Los Angeles. In 2001, despite her difficulties with money she managed get her first significant performance in the video online show Rachel's Room in the role of Rachel's Room's lead character. Her performance as Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the T.V. movie Murder in Greenwich in 2002, earned her an award nomination for the Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford was the main actress on Lost in its two initial seasons. In 2004 she received the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. Grace decided to leave the show in order to concentrate on her film career. The actress had been on the show with Tom Welling opposite in The Fog in 2005. In 2007, she appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and, opposite the Liam Neeson character Kim Mills as Kim Mills in Taken. Her role was reprised as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern adaptation from the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to Shannon's character as Shannon in Lost for two more episodes. This included the final episode of the series. In 2013, she appeared in Season 6 of Californication. The role she plays is Faith, a groupie who serves as a model for the stars, and draws the attention to Hank Moody (David Duchovny). Part of the Gyllenhaal family She is the daughter of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. She began her career in the teen years with minor roles in several of his films. She also appeared with her brother in the famous cult classic Donnie Darko (2001). Her subsequent roles included Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which was released in 2002 as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal won critical praise for her performance as the main character actress in Secretary (2002), an erotic romance drama drama as well as Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated by the Golden Globe Award. In the wake of several successful commercial films including World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). Her performance in Crazy Heart as a mother who is a single parent earned her nomination for an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she appeared in comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Will Not Back Down (2012). Other roles she has played include a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) and a musician in Frank (2014) as well as The title role in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal's debut as a filmmaker and writer took place in 2021, with The Lost Daughter, a psycho-drama in which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. She also won an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
